I was asked an insightful question by Susi during the blog party: how long have you been writing and what drives you?
I figured I’d write a post for all the writers out there. Being a blogger, a poet, an author or a novelist is not anything to be ashamed of. It is not uncool. It is a way of life. There will be hurdles. My first attempt wasn’t all that pretty and neither was my second. You just have to keep trying till you’re passionate enough to let go of what’s stopping your spirits.
I’ve been writing for about a year but I began this journey when I was 10 years old. I started writing my first novel. The book got damaged while shifting. My amateur mind thought that keeping it inside a folder would protect it from dampness☺️
Anyways, that was my first experience. I’ve always attempted short stories in the English paper and I’ve written nearly 30 to 40 stories so far. My first hand at poetry was in 8th grade for the school magazine. And guess what it was about. Chocolates! Can you believe my first poem was about chocolates!?
I’ve not really published my work publicly until one year back in the college newsletter. Then, last year in March, I began my journey on WordPress. I have had many failed attempts but I’m happy that I’m getting to meet new people and make new friends.
Ever since I haven’t stopped. I’ve tried but it’s just not possible. I’m addicted. Addicted to the flawless beauty of art. It’s true. When I don’t post for a month I start having nightmares.
Always remember, nothing is a waste. All our humiliations, embarrassments and hurtful moments will help us shape our art. Tell me the name of one successful person in the field of writing and poetry who hasn’t been stabbed by the realities of life. I dare you, my friends😏
Love you all! And I hope this post helps you.
Lots of love and hugs!❤️
Thank you for reading:)
This is a fantastic post. I can very easily relate to this post. I am a struggling blogger. Thanks for sharing. I would like to reblog it tomorrow with your permission.

Advice from a fellow blogger: (1) proofread. (2) proofread. (3) proofread. Example, your first sentence, “I was a question…” Be blessed as you write. 🙂

O my god Thank you so much for pointing that out. I usually proofread before I post but I guess I was a little overconfident:) Love and hugs!

Don’t worry – I generally don’t proofread my chapters before I post them on WordPress. I have done that with the last few chapters, but sometimes I forget to. So you’re not the only one 🙂

All of us authors have faced obstacles before. As you said, it shapes our art. I started writing my first novel at 10 or 11 as well. I think it’s awful, but everybody else say it’s good. But I keep writing and improving. It’s certainly natural to me, like its simply another limb or extension of myself. When I don’t get to write for just a few hours, I am already chafing at the bit so to speak to start writing again.

Excellent quotes, Rageshree, and I agree that all our life experiences, including the mundane and awful ones, are grist for the writer’s mill. We have to experience intimately in order to bring those experiences to life for the reader. Good luck with your writing journey. 🙂

Perfect! I have been hiding my writing for years…Destroying it so no one would know. I now write openly and it keeps me from destroying myself.

This is so so relatable! I’ve been writing for a year too but I started when I was pretty young. Guess we all start off as immature writers and bloom through the journey! 💕

40 stories are fantastic!!!!! You should seriously think about publishing them. I know a few publishers who would love to help.

That is the sweetest gesture!❤️ It’s is a great idea! But I don’t think they’re actually worth publishing😢. Although, I’ll collect all of them in one common place and come back to you.
